New Renault Scenic and Grand Scenic - on sale this Spring, with the Grand Scenic launching first

Building on the success of Scenic I and Scenic II, Renault is poised to renew the model with the launch of the new Grand Scenic (with 7 seats) and the new Scenic (5-seats).

The new Scenic and Grand Scenic both feature dynamic, distinctive styling, while their roomy interiors, stowage solutions and high-tech equipment are destined to set new standards in their category.

- The instrument panel features a customisable, easy-to-read TFT colour screen (unique at this level),
- Two distinct new silhouettes, and two variants: five-seat Renault Scenic and seven-seat Grand Scenic,
- Remarkable cabin space with class-topping second-row knee room (235mm in the case of Scenic, and 275mm for Grand Scenic),
- More room for third-row occupants than in any other compact seven-seat MPV (headroom: 842mm, knee room: 102mm),
Segment-best stowage capacity, with up to 92 litres (seven-seat Grand Scenic) throughout the cabin, including four underfloor compartments, up to four under-seat drawers, six map pockets, an 11-litre glovebox and nine litres of stowage in the sliding centre console,
- Boot capacity increased by 10 per cent,
- Clever stowage solutions, including a special compartment for the luggage cover in the boot of seven-seat Grand Scenic, handy hooks for the second and third row seats and a 12V power supply for every row of seats,
- Intuitive controls which fall easily to hand, with a centre console that houses the controls for the principal driver aids (navigation system, electronic parking brake, cruise control, speed limiter switch, TunePoint multimedia sockets),
- Unprecedented in the segment: a reversing camera for easier parking,
- Carminat TomTom, developed in exclusive association with TomTom, for less than £500,
- Upper-range 3D Sound by Arkamys audio system with three-dimensional sound spatialisation,
- Suspension identical to that of the new Megane, including a horned front subframe and closed-section rear torsion beam for exemplary body roll control and steering precision,
- New electric power steering for greater precision and enhanced driving pleasure,
- A range of three petrol engines, including the new TCe 130, and six diesel engines, three of which emit less than 140g of CO2/km,
- Genes shared with the other members of the new Megane family: robustness and quality, including a new laser brazing technique for welding the roof to the body sides,
The same standard of exemplary safety as that claimed by New Mégane which achieved the joint highest ever Euro NCAP crash test rating,
- Three versions comply with the three criteria required to qualify for the Renault eco range of ecological, economically affordable vehicles.

The dCi AND TCe engine ranges
Both models are available with a significantly renewed range of petrol and diesel engines which combine performance and respect for the environment.

Petrol engines
A choice of three petrol powertrains:

the 1.6 16V 110hp
the new TCe 130 engine (TCe = Turbo Control efficiency),
the 2.0 16V 140hp engine mated to a CVT (continuously variable transmission) gearbox.

Diesel engines
The diesel engine range spotlights Renault's ongoing quest to provide its customers with the market's best trade-off between performance and fuel consumption.

The 1.5 dCi, which is widely acclaimed for its combination of performance and driving pleasure, is available in a choice of three power outputs: dCi 86 (Scenic only), dCi 106 and the new dCi 110 with particulate filter. All three boast CO2 emissions of less than 140g/km.

The other diesel engines available for both models:

the new dCi 130 first seen on the new Megane,
the dCi 150 FAP mated to six-speed automatic transmission,
the dCi 160 FAP coupled with a six-speed manual gearbox.

In terms of running and maintenance costs, these seven diesel powertrains stand out among the best in their class, with oil change intervals of 18,000 miles (or every two years) and a lifetime warranty for the diesel particulate filter.

The new Grand Scenic goes on sale in the UK in May followed in July by the new Scenic.
